A list of accommodation options will be provided and you will be required to book the accommodation that best suits your needs.

Alderney Trips: 4 or 5 day (April-October)

Target species: cod, pollack, ling, turbot, brill, congers, tope, huss, bass, john dory, shark, black bream, couches sea bream, gurnard

Alderney, which is a 4 hour steam from Poole, offers a range of pubs and restaurants and is quieter than Guernsey. As well as plenty of different wrecks to fish and the turbot and brill on the drift Alderney really offers some superb fishing at anchor. Rough ground and rock marks provide great sport with big tope to 60lb and hard fighting bull huss. We have also started to see porbeagle sharks over there more regularly feeding on the mackerel and bream. From August onwards the bream arrive of both the black and couches variety. These fish are very close to the Island so reduces the amount of steaming time and increases time spent fishing. Bass are also available on the drift if the tide is right. It’s important to bring both spinning, light and heavy gear on this trip to make the most of what’s on offer.

Tackle List:

Spinning rod from August onwards, 12-20lb and 20-30lb class rods, 40lb mono, 150lb mono (congers tope and ling), assorted zip sliders, snap swivels and swivels, 10oz – 32oz leads, half a dozen 10 and half a dozen 12oz leads, 4/0 kamasan, 8/0 kamasan, 1/0 treble hooks, feathers to catch live bait, assorted 6 inch lures in various bright colours, bream rigs if going in August or later, 4/0 kamasan (turbot and brill), coloured beads, plaice spoon, assortment of 2oz – 12oz leads (watch/ donut leads).

Guernsey Trips: 4 or 5 day (May-July)

Target species: cod, pollack, ling, turbot, brill, congers, tope, john dory, shark, black bream

Guernsey is a five hour run from Poole and is surrounded by a variety of different fishing grounds. Plenty of sandbanks for turbot and brill on the drift, then long distance wreck fishing out to the southwest to target some wrecks not very often fished to catch cod, pollack and ling. Sessions at anchor will produce congers and tope on the bigger gear and bream on lighter gear later on in the year. After a hard day’s fishing it’s nice to jump off and enjoy a few beers and a bite to eat and share old fishing tales. Guernsey has plenty of great spots to eat and enjoy the local nightlife.

Tackle List:

12-20lb and 20-30lb class rods, 40lb mono, 150lb mono (congers tope and ling), assorted zip sliders, snap swivels and swivels, 10oz – 32oz leads, half a dozen 10 and half a dozen 12oz leads, 4/0 kamasan, 8/0 kamasan, 1/0 treble hooks, feathers to catch live bait, assorted 6 inch lures in various bright colours, perks 500-700 grams, bream rigs if going in August or later, 4/0 kamasan (turbot and brill), coloured beads, plaice spoon, assortment of 2oz – 12oz leads (watch/ donut leads).

Cherbourg: 3 day June – September

Target species: bass, pollack, tope, ling, cod, black bream, undulate rays, huss, congers, john dory

Cherbourg is a four hour steam from Poole. One difference for this trip is that you will need a passport and some Euros. The pontoon facilities are top class in the French port and it’s only a couple of minutes stroll to the hotel to get checked in. The restaurants of Cherbourg offer some excellent cuisine from seafood to steaks they have got it all covered. The fishing is mostly done on the wrecks to target ling, cod, pollack and bass. However there is plenty to keep you occupied at anchor if need be with congers, tope, huss and bream off the many wartime wrecks and also some lighter fishing inshore with bream and rays available on certain tides. The port is positioned perfectly to allow us access to all the wrecks in the Bay de la Seine which would be out of reach on a standard day trip.

Tackle List:

12-20lb and 20-30lb class rods, 40lb mono, 150lb mono (congers tope and ling), assorted zip sliders, snap swivels and swivels, 10oz – 32oz leads, half a dozen 10 and half a dozen 12oz leads, 4/0 kamasan, 8/0 kamasan, 1/0 treble hooks, feathers to catch live bait, assorted 6 inch lures in various bright colours, perks 500-700 grams, bream rigs if going in August or later.
