Andy Cumming is a lifetime angling fanatic. He had his first boat at age 11 and started commercial fishing as a teenager in Islay, Inner Hebrides. Andy has 20 years experience fishing off Dorset and in mid channel. As a competitive angler Andy has reached the final stages of several major competitions including the TVS and Wessex champion of champions. He has fished widely over seas including, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, Venezuela and Tortola. Andy is certified by the RYA and is a member of the Professional Boatman’s Association and Poole Charter Skippers Association.
Sam Cumming spent his childhood fishing with Andy at home and abroad, when he was eight he was Wessex NFSA Junior Champion and the same year he landed a 26lb blonde ray. At 16 he decided he wanted a career in the fishing industry and applied and was accepted as an apprentice at the Whitby School of Sea Fishing. He completed his fishing apprenticeship on a trawler in some of the toughest waters in the world, the North Sea, and was awarded Apprentice of the Year in 2007. Sam has now completed all the theoretical and practical training to gain his Yachtmasters certificate (RYA) and is qualified to Skipper the Silver Spray. He has made an impressive start to his chartering career and has already pushed up several boat records. When not working on Silver Spray Sam skippers a commercial whelk fishing boat from Poole.
Dave Lynes is a regular crew on Silver Spray. He has fished around Poole all of his life and has done well in a number of competitions including the European championships. He is an expert light line angler.
Alex Miles started fishing with his father when a young lad. While fishing off the IOW Alex gained a lot of experience in shark fishing. Also a keen bass angler he is a strong believer in catch and release.
